I want to mix in a 1080i piece to give a "live news" look to a short im working on thats shooting in 108024p...will i run into any problems?

What formats? What's your editing timeline frame rate? 60i dropped directly into a 24p timeline will show as slow motion if you don't change the speed rate a bit.

Yeah, the problem is that when you add the 1080i60 footage to your 24p timeline, it will no longer be smooth video. It will adopt the 24p look. And not well. FCP does a horrible job of mixing frame rates. You'd need to convert the footage.

I'm seam to be having the same issue so I thought I'd chime in as well.
I have some DVCProHD 720p footage shot 60fps that I need to convert to 24fps for slow mo but after I convert it in Cinema Tools for FCP and it has a hard time rendering in the time line unlike the 60fps footage.

I realize conforming it too 24fps for slow mo would be fantastic if the rest of the video was in 24fps however all the video was mistakenly shot in 60fps so I thought I'd at least try to get some slow mo out of it. hence the reason why the sequence time line needs to be set to 60fps

So how are all video's able to have a mix of both 24fps footage and slow mo footage in the same time line? Or all they all conformed to the same frame rate for the time line?

I'm still a newbe so this has all been great for learning though trial and error so many thanks!
