Mixing Flourescents with Fresnels

This is an obvious question I'm sure...however I would just like a confirmation. I will be doing a shoot in D.C. and rented two Flourescents with Daylight and Tungsten bulbs and 1 Arri tungsten. Can i mix the flourescents(tungsten bulbs) with the Arri? More importantly, will the flourescents wash out any modeling that I could get with adding the Arri?

As long as the color temperatures are in the same range (3200k or 5500k) you can mix just fine. I'd expect the Arri to be slightly warmer but that should not be a real factor. As for washing out modeling, it all depends on what you are doing. I'd need to see a picture to tell you.

Sometimes mixing color temps can be a good thing with careful planning and design.

One way to keep the flouros from washing out the Arri's would be to use the flouros as a kicker, and have the Arri be the key, then use a reflector for fill.

Agreed that mixed color temps can be cool when planned.
