Ok, I know this isn't the most ideal situation, but unfortunately I have to work with what I've got...... I am doing a documentary for a local hospital through my university and my group is wanting to give the documentary more of a film look. The hospital actually gave the school a grant to buy a video camera, so my teacher bought a JVC GR-HD1 camera ( I have no clue why he didn't just buy a DVX100a, but that's in the past now). The only problem is that this project requires at least 2 cameras, rendering HD capabilities useless since we only have 1 HD camera. Since the JVC is only a 1 chip, the image in standard definition isn't as good as the image I get from my DVX100a (which is the other camera we are using for this project). Anyways, my school has Gl-2's which still don't match up exactly to the DVX, but is closer than the 1chip JVC. I was wondering if I shot in 30p on my DVX and in frame mode on the Gl-2 if the progressive modes would blend well together since we will be cutting from one camera to the other for different angles during interviews. As a last resort we could always shoot in normal interlaced, but we would really like to give it more of a film look (without creating the look in post). Any ideas or suggestions?
ps. We start shooting interviews on Tuesday, so I'd appreciate as much feedback as possible before then, thanks.
