Mixing 60i & 24P footage

I apologize if this has been discussed, but I can't find an answer anywhere it seems:

I am making an action sports movie, and most of it is shot in 24Pa and is being edited in a 23.98 timeline in FCP 5.

However, I have a few "skateboard-style" shots that are shot in 60i to use here and there, and I REALLY want to maintain that raw, "video" type feel of those shots mixed in with the usual film-look of the 24P.

How can I use this 60i footage in my 23.98 timeline? I tried converting the 60i (29.97) shot to 23.98 in Cinema Tools, but the motion is super choppy when I play it back in my 23.98 FCP timeline.

I really don't want to go back to a 29.97 timeline because I'm hoping to deliver the final product as a 24P progressive scan DVD.

Please help!

Just drop the 60i clip into your timeline and render it, simple as that. It'll be conformed to 24p automatically (meaning Cinema Tools isn't nessisary). A lot of 60i footage will look funky when conformed to 24p.

Also, try exporting it as DVCPRO-HD (or whatever codec it's originally in) and changine the frame rate to 24p in the QuickTime Converstion export.

The best thing to do (and cheapest if you already have After Effects) would be to drop it into a 24fps composition in After Effects. This usually does better than straight dropping 60i footage into a 24 timeline in an NLE.

But DV FilmMaker is pretty dang good. Get it if you can.

Just know that no matter what you do, it will not look super smooth like it used to, it will get more of a "film look" to it...nothing you can do about that.
