Mixing 30 frames with 24 frames...

Hi...

All my footage is 24p....but... I have this one tiny 4 sec clip that I want in the movie, but it is 30frames....

It looks like "video" when I dumped it into my timeline, but I don't care.

Question: Can I just leave it there? Will it screw things up when I burn a dvd???

Thanks,

Darryl

Darryl,

I'm not sure if this is really right but maybe you can deinterlace that 30 frames and see if it closely match that of 24p and do a test copy first to make sure its good enough to be.

I think I have the same question . . . If I wanted to dump 60i "news" footage into my 24PA timeline in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, wouldn't that screw things up somehow? I would have to convert the 60i into 24PA somehow (before dropping it into the 24PA timeline) for everything to playback correctly on the replicated DVD, right?

ive been working on a project for the past while using both 24p and 60i footage. No one seemed to have an answer, but i figured it out.

I'm using premiere pro 1.0 to capture all the footage 24p and 60i on the same timeline.
I'm using premiere pro 1.5 to edit it
step 1: capture footage in pro 1.0
step 2: open up pro 1.5 and choose 60i timeline i belive
step 3: import the captured clips from pro 1.0 into your pro 1.5 60i timeline
step 4: you have to apply CC to your 24 footage that you import otherwise it'll **** up when rendering. I know its ****ed up, but it works, make sure to CC the 24p footage. Otherwise when you render it wihout any adjusting it'll be choppy.
Step 5: with all the footage in 24p and 60i, save the project as .avi or whatever u need. The end.

I'm using DVDlabpro to master to DVD and it works amazing. it looks great when you see 60i footage followed by 24p, just looks too damn good.
good luck
if u have anymo' questions, holla!

I am assuming CC is color correction...am I right? Why do you have to color correct the 1.0 footage?

in premiere 1.5 u can capture both, but wichever timeline u capture through, be it 60i or 24 one, the other footage will be ****ed up.

example(premiere 1.5)
24timeline: capturing 24 footage is fine, but when captureing 60i footage on the 24 timeline it wants to render the footage after u captured it(wich is normal). But after u render the footage its very choppy and just not watchable. The same thing goes if u do it the other way.

Now, the reason you put CC(color correction is so when u render the footage it comes out fine). I"ve tested this to death, if u dont add slight CC or adjusting brightness, etc the footage will be choppy. I know its wierd but thats what it does. So the only way that i know how to get the footage proper is to add CC.

I'm sure the next verision of Premiere will have support for both on sametimeline, at this point this works for me and i'm sharing :D

i hope that helps

I don't see why you need to use premiere 1.0? I would think that if you imported all of your 24p footage with pro1.5 in a 24p timeline and saved to a folder then you could go and import these clips into a 60i timeline in pro1.5. I just don't see the need for two different versions of premiere. Am I missing something?

dude.....what part of "No one seemed to have an answer, but i figured it out." you didnt understand????

do u not think i tried everything? hahaha....IT DOESNT WORK, UNLESS U LIKE CHOPPY FOOTAGE!
LETS DO THIS ONE MORE TIME!

If u capture the 24p footage in a 24p timeline in premiere pro 1.5, it works. If u capture the 60i footage in the same timline, the 60i doesnt work, it renders it the wrong way.

IF you capture the 24p footage in a 60i timline, the footage will be ****ed up because it renders it wrong.

IF you export either 24p or 60i into the other ones timeline its ****ed up also.

So to answer you question, NO IT DOESNT BLOODY WORK!!! I have tried all the possible combinations, i woudnt come on here and tell someone how to do this if i didnt know what the **** i was talking about. hehehehehe....

What does it look like exactly? I've captured both 24p and 24pa on a 60i timeline, works fine for me. You get interlacing, but that's what it's going to look like on a TV even if you were working on a 24p timeline.
