Mixed formats, best process?

I am currently doing a project that involves many formats, and I am looking for the best workflow, regarding image quality. The footage will be mainly 1080i/25p, but also 720p for VFR, as well as a bit of DVCPro50, and some DV25 will go in there. Some stuff will go to Shake for various compositing, stabilising and so on. There are two intended output formats:

1. For Pilots, pitches and promo during filming, I need to deliver SD DVD's in 16:9 and stereo mix, delivery from February '07 onwards.
2. For Broadcast and possible HD DVD's the projects' final output, two years from now, the format will be HD Master and possibly Blu-Ray, with both stereo and 5.1 audio mixes. I do not know yet if the Master(s) will be 1080i or 720p, possibly both, for different territories.

So, I wonder what the best workflow will be, in order to achieve maximum image quality, including best down- and uprezzing of the bits and pieces?

Kind regards, and Merry Christmas, Soren

Remember that you keep more resolution when you down rez, and you lose resolution when you up rez.

What format is the majority of the footage going to be?

And in two years, I can assure you, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will both have been replaced with some other newer version of the "DVD Standard".
