Mixed Footage in the Timeline

My apologies if this question is a bit blockheaded. I was unable to find an answer elsewhere in the forum ( though I'm sure it's been answered a few times somewhere).

I want to mix slow motion (60i at 40%) footage with 24pa in Premiere CS3. I believe Vegas and FCS2 can do this, but I'm not sure if it can be done in Premiere. My first tests yielded undesirable results.

Thank you for your help.

Just dropping a 60i video in a timeline and slowing it to 40% isn't going to do it. Premiere won't deinterlaced to 60p, it will just make up the extra frames and then the result won't be good. I use After Effects to deinterlace to 60p first then then it works well.

If I export with Video Encoder I get great deinterlaced footage from the technique, but perhaps deinterlacing it beforehand will make it compatible with the 24p footage. Have you ever worked with both in the same timeline after treating the 60i footage in After Effects?

What I do is drop the 60i into a 24 fps composition in AE, timestretch 200% so it becomes 60p and export out. Then I just take that and drop it into the 24p timeline on Premiere. It's slowed down about 60% or so. Works well with native 24p footage.
