mix FR tape...????

sorry if you read this already but I thought maybe people will be able to help from here.

a tape I shot, where a changed frame rates a couple of times and didn't write it down. I need to capture it now but don't know what to do. is both 30p and 24PA...wanted to use then in a 23.97 timeline. what do I need to do?

what do you do if you have a tape and doesn't say frame rate? how do you capture? can you tell? how?

sorry to bother. hope is interesting to others too.

Thanks

(of course FCP...DVX100A)

Press play. Hit Capture Now. WHen it hits a frame rate change, it will stop capturing, give some error, but keep the footage. Capture from there unitl the next frame rate change.

And don't ever do this again. Different frame rates...different tapes...period. And mixing frame rates in one project? HIGHLY frowned upon.

that is a nice solution. But if I have 30p and 24PA..they both can be capture at 29.97 preset without interruption, right? or will FCP recognize the FR change? got to try it.

...I wanted to use a 23.97 timeline...keeping the 24fps and using the 30fps for a slowmotion.

Your right, I either find a good method for mixing FR in one tape or never again.

first time doing time...just learning by mistakes. jeje

Thanks shane.

Learning by mistake is one way to never make those mistakes again.

But I hear you on the 30fps for slow motion...makes sense. Just use a different tape. That's what we do with DVCPRO HD 720p24 and 720p60. And if you start capturing 24PA and hit 30p...or 60i...whatever...FCP should stop due to a "break in cadence."
