Mitsubishi has a HD tv thats 3D ready... Sigh*

In its current TV form, I'd have to agree with you;

The technology for 3d display is just not here yet, the biggest problem is to create images that can be viewed by multiple viewers.

actually the problem is two fold:

capturing 3d (stereo cams produce quasi 3d, more like 2.5D)

and displaying it as mentioned.

The only area I see it taking off, is next gen gaming, since consoles and computers already produce true 3d content (just happen to display it on 2d)

My thoughts exactly... I almost sent a PM just to say so, but I didn't want to look stalky. :)

On the 3D tv thing... I gotta' agree... I hate 3D, but for gaming I think it might be cool... check out the new game Resistance 2... or possibly Dead Space, but I think D3 was probably scarier then Dead Space anyway.

When you feel in control of the picture... I think 3D will be seriously cool. One of my favorite things about some of the new games is simply how interesting the environments are. I can imagine how potentially cool that could be in 3D.

i just see it as another way for filmmakers to cash in on a gimmick while shooting, and creating another distraction from the story...

I mean... ok... Crank would have been cool in 3D..... bu thats about it....
