Mission Impossible III

When I went to see Ice Age 2 last week *looks away*, the MI:3 logo was on the popcorn pack. And that's never a good sign. I am not forgetting the Matrix Revolutions popcorn packs anytime soon.

heres to hoping its more like 1 than 2. is it just me or all movies like ****in super spy movies anymore? whatever happened to a regular guy and a well written script? i guess its just easier to go for the super fight scenes. PSH is in it though, which gives me hope.

After the first two, all I can say is... why?

Money? ;)

I loved the original series, I liked the first movie and had to throw up after the second one.
The trailer for MI3 looks like they made a movie from the outtakes from MI2 and War of the Worlds, no thanks!

...Kanye Wests MI3 theme song...
Oh well...
there went what little interest I did have in seeing this one.

Edit: At least the second one had that hot Metallica theme going for it.

but c'mon! Philip Seymour Hoffman as a SUPER VILLAIN! This is going to be worth watching....it'll be both good, and hilarious junkfood -- like 3D Doritos! -- hopefully there are a few shots off him running away, or killing someone. Or, jerking off and sticking something to the wall.

The problem with the Mission Impossible franchise for me is that it lost its way. It started out okay...following the format set down by the tv show but then turned into Tom Cruise's opportunity to play a James Bond character. So many on the board are upset because some filmmaker doesn't follow the premise set down by a comic book. Where's the outrage here?

Not too many of the old TV show adaptions over the past decade have been especially faithful. I don't think anyone cares anymore.

I didn't think that the first movie was all that faithful either. I mean Jim betraying the team?

All things considered I like the first one because it's a fairly intelligent film. I like the second one because I was a John Woo fan before it was trendy to be a John Woo fan ... and then it became un-trendy to be a John Woo fan (but you have to watch it as a Woo film and not a Mission Impossible film--that said, there are some beautiful shots in M:I 2). The third one ... eh. I'll give it a shot, but I'm not expecting greatness. Cruise once said that he wanted each M:I movie to have a completely different look and feel to it. So far, he's succeeded.
