Missing title safe

Hi everyone- I am relatively new to FCP, but am an experienced editor (Avid). For some reason, my title safe bars will not show up. I can check "Show Title Safe" and uncheck it in the drop down menu in the timeline video playback window, and nothing appears. Wireframe views, Show Excess Luma, etc. all work, but not Title Safe. Any ideas?

I tried trashing the preferences and restarting, and looked through all the settings, but can find anything.

Thanks for the help.

Dan

I'm not sitting at FCP right now... check the little box in the middle top of the canvas window -- pull it down and see if it says something like show overlays... or show titlesafe area...

Hmmmm...

It's the 3rd button to the right on top of the canvas window. "Show Title Safe" is in that menu.

You can also go to the View menu-> show title safe.

Should always look at the help menu first, Dan. If that does not help you, it's better to do a google or apple support forums search.

Thanks for the helpful advice to look at the help menu, tbanucci. Really, I hadn't tried that one, yet. Why do you think I am posting here? I have posted on the Apple forums as well.

Back to my issue: selecting "Show title safe" under any of the menus does NOT bring up the title safe bars. Even when it shows that title safe is selected.

Anyone else have some helpful advice, other than look in the pulldown menus or google it or post somewhere else.

Dan-

I went into the help menu, and "title safe" pulls up on page I-83. It's really not that difficult.

Okay - here was the issue. The visual display was set at too low of a resolution within the computer. Once I changed this, and rebooted, the title safe option came back up.

So I will offer up this advice for people that have any future problems with not being able to show title safe, even when you know where the "show title safe" button is. (someone had a problem understanding the posted question, see above...)

A big thanks to "tbanucci," who could not understand the question and thought he should leave some smart ass remark about just looking in the help section of FCP. Big help there, buddy. I could have gotten that advice from a three year old. (Which I may very well have.)

If someone has an extra hi-density light bulb, please send it to tbanucci.
tbanucci, please insert the light bulb into your head...it's a little dark in there.
By the way, it's "Final Cut," not "Last Cut." Poor attempt on the word play. Although, I'm sure it really sells those wedding videos.

Madercom-

First off, you are a newb. Get those posts up rather than asking dumb ass questions that aren't phrased right at all and some people may respect you a little more rather than pointing you to Google.

Second off- if you expect me to read between the lines when you ask your question and know that your dumbass monitor was set to 256 colors or something then you obviously posted your question wrong, didn't you? As a troubleshooter TRYING TO HELP YOU, I can only answer what is told to me in your question. If I cannot understand your question from what is really going on then you posted your question wrong- ASSHAT!!!!

Third off, if you plan to ask for advice and then shun people or backlash against them for not "understanding" you- and go on to make dumbass insults about them, no one on this board is going to help you. This is a community of people helping each other and you are obviously abusing the help.

Have fun learning the most basic of options in FCP, as well as continue to edit on your monochrome monitor, and keep your lightbulb for yourself so you can see how big your asshole is.

I love it when people contradict themselves.

"Go Google it, and quit wasting our time with easy questions"

vs.

"This is a forum where poeple come to help each other..."

Say whatever is convenient.

I am a newb (on this forum), because I don't sit on this forum and post all day. I actually work. (not that I don't enjoy reading this forum, because most poeple on it are very friendly and helpful.) Sorry if I don't have a certain number of posts. Talk about profiling. I'm suprised you didn't post an unintelligent reply the minute after I posted the solution to my problem. It actually took you a few hours to post an unintelligent reply. You must have been sleeping after working that tough wedding reception last night.

Also, if you don't understand the question, which was very clear, how could you provide an answer? Oh ya, you are a "senior member," and know just about everything about everything. (Because of how many posts you have. Right.)

What is an ASSHAT?

(Is that a clear question, or do you need more information? Wouldn't want you to have to read between the lines or anything. Of course, if you don't understand the question, please give me a BS answer to get your posts up a little bit, so that more people will respect you on this forum.)
