Missing Render file

I am racking my brain trying to figure out what is going on here.

I have two short (2 min) projects in FCP using a few motion files for titling. I dropped the actual motion file on the FCP timeline. I finished both projects and used the hard drive that stores these projects to capture footage of another project on my laptop so I could use the Mac Pro on other stuff.

I bring the hard drive back to the Mac Pro to make changes to the projects and FCP starts asking me for "Sequence-FIN-3-000000010". I can't find this file. I click through 20 "cancels" and finally get to the project and it is completely fine except that FCP keeps asking me for this file. Going into Motion to access my motion titles, Motion asks me for the same file. So needless to say this is a Motion/FCP render issue. So, I deleted all video render files in FCP to force a render do-over. I render everything, close FCP and re-open it and it still asks me for this file. Any ideas as to what I can do outside of exporting an EDL? This is happening to both of my projects. They are for the same client and are very similar (local restaurant spots that have the same structure). I have used the original motion files as templates and then would "save as" when I created a new file. Any idea what's going on?

Ps. Autosave vault doesn't have a current enough file for me to go off of.

Thanks!

I usually have seen that FIN file after I've mistakenly used a REFERENCE movie and have trashed the render or actual MEDIA.

I'd try taking everything offline and then reconnecting everything. Also, trash your render files for good measure.

HOWEVER -- I must warn you... if indeed you trashed the existing MEDIA on a REFERENCE file and all FCP is using is the render file you will be hosed. So...

But hey -- good luck,

I normally export self-contained files to go into motion, but I just checked and they are reference files. And I deleted one that exported wrong. I used it in a motion file and didn't realize it until I pulled it into motion and I created another file with the same name to replace it. That wasn't working so I created another file with a similar name and deleted the old file. That is probably where my problem lies. Now, I have not deleted any media whatsoever. I still have all the source files. Is there a way to counter this?

Thanks for the help!
