Missing plug-ins

Hi guys and gals! Thank you for your answers on my other post.

I have a serious question about workflow. I have a reverb plug-in that the director/editor does not have.

Let's say I've done some audio work and give him back the drive with the project.
Whenever he opens the project, does his any video edits, saves and gives it back to me, all the envelopes and settings for that reverb are gone!

There has to be a way around this. Shouldn't the program just give an option to ignore the missing plug-in yet keep the envelopes intact?

Have him buy and install a copy of that plugin???
