Missing data mystery for computer genius

I know this is borderline for the Cafe thread but I am trying to get as many eyes on this as possible.

Here is the short version:
I have a folder missing from a hard drive on my NLE but the drive still reads as having data on it.

I use to have 3 folders on this drive. They total about 800 GB. After a system crash, I only have two folders.

The sum total of the 2 remaining folders is about 300 GB. When I view the drive specs the system says there is 800GB of used space on the drive.

So in other words I am missing a folder but not missing the data. Any ideas on how to get my system to re-index or see the folder. The data is still there just hiding?

TECH SPECS:

Windows XP OS.
drive is external 1TB raid 0 connected to MOBO via a SATA to ESATA adapter.

Have you looked in the trash? Could it have been thrown in the recycle bin by mistake?
If it's an external drive there should be a recycle folder on it. Might be hidden though.

Bwaa-haa-haa (evil laugh). I took it.

Can you remember the name of one of the files in the folder? If so, "search" it in your finder window, and you will see the pathway for the file at the bottom of the search tool. It could be that it is still there and just the Icon got wiped out.
