Missing 2001 footage found!

[Batutta]

The 17 minutes that Stanley Kubrick cut from 2001 just before release has been found, perfectly preserved in Warner Brothers salt mine vault. Hope they cut it into a new blu-ray!

I wonder if we'll be seeing a DVD and Blu-ray re-release in the near future?

I'd love to see this lost footage remastered and edited into a 17 minute special feature where we could watch it all in sequential order. They'll probably do some extended cut version though, with the 17 minutes added into the film.

Actually, I bet 2001 will get a 3D conversion for a theatrical re-release within the next 5 years, kinda like how Lucas is 3D-izing the Star Wars films for the theater again.

Does this mean I have to buy ANOTHER DVD?
