Minority report effect with moving camera

Hey

I know we have all seen the good old minority report effect but i need to pull if off with a moving camera and don't have a clue how to set it up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Minority report used camera tracking. and a 3d package to match move the interface in 3d. I think they shot on a green screen with a tracking grid / markers. They then added back in a background.

If you don't know where to start, its probably because you've picked something challenging for someone who knows how to do it. If you plan your shots right and cut away instead of make difficult 3d transitions you could propably fake it all in AE. Just don't do something foolish and Speilbergian like 2 minute long shots with a camera flying around unless you have a huge budget and a team of people to figure it all out.

Shoot some of your shot with any camcorder and do some tests. Professional Effects people do A LOT OF TESTS AND PREVISUALIZATION. You will need to also.

I guess it really depends on how in depth you want to get with your effect, and the camera movement...

If, for example, the touch-screen interface your character is interacting with is a flat plane, you could technically do the entire thing very easily in AE, regardless of where the camera moves in the shot. It will involve plenty of tracking, and whatnot, but if you can establish where that plane is, and mimic the camera movement on an AE camera flying around that plane then you could circle around it, cross through it, or do whatever you want -- but, it's probably not going to be a quick and simple task, especially if you are new to AE.

I would suggest taking a look at a couple of Andrew Kramer's tutorials, the two that specifically are sticking in my mind and being useful to this particular project are Set Extension, and Floating Text (which I now remember is on the Serious effects dvd, not the free tutorials)... the two on camera projection might be useful as well.
