MiniDV VCR

Before I make a purchase, I wanted to see what you alls thoughts were on a MiniDV VCR oppose to a MiniDV Deck. I was looking at a few that were combos with MiniDV and S-VHS in one unit. I don't really need the VHS side but if someone needed something to be on VHS I could do that. I am also looking at the Sony GVD1000 portable deck as well which I am probably going to go with. Just wanted to see if anyone was using one of those MiniDV vcr set ups.

Re: MiniDV VCR

Well, if you're looking at the JVC... look again.

There are considerable warnings as to how poor a performer the JVC dual deck is.

That's exaggerated . . . it's not a full-blown pro deck, but I've used it for a year with no problems. The SR-VS30U, anyway. I've seen that there have been problems with the consumer version and with older models (VS10U), but so far, no complaints.

Re: MiniDV VCR

i used to sell many of the jvc srvs-30u and the panasonic ag-dv1000 and can tell you they are a hit or a miss! we got a good amount of these decks back for repair or return. personally, i would not purchase any of these unless it came w/ a good return policy so you can test it out. like i said, it either works or it doesn't. i'd go w/ one of the sony gv-d's or a consumer camera if you're not looking for a dsr-11 or ag-dv2500.

Re: MiniDV VCR

I believe I've read negative comments on that deck from DVXuser.com members.

I believe Kai said his was collecting dust and that he had problems with it.

Kai, could you comment?
