MiniDV cam as a deck

I bought a Cannon ZR-500 camera and the first couple tapes I captured were fine, then the sound started getting choppy, and now, so does the video. I put in a head cleaner and it didn't do anything.

Any Ideas or suggestions? Should I take it back and get another camera?

Hmm...i have a little Panasonic that I use and so far it's worked very well. I hope it keeps up. Otherwise I'll probably buy a DV deck.

I've been using a ZR100 for almost 2 years and it has never given me any problems.

yes, take it back. sounds like a head issue and the heads shouldn't give out for a good long while

just to be sure tho: do the tapes play back ok in another camera? it could be that your DVX head is dirty
