Well this is a very strange question I have for you all today. Iam not sure if this is in the right place so if it isn't could someone tell where it should be.

Question: Ok I asked for a whole set of diffrent cameras for christmas this year (only intending to get one of course), but as to my surprise I did not get any of the ones on my list. Instead I got a JVC Everio GZ-MG505, its a 3CCD rig. Its pretty cool, but I had asked for some of the other cameras specifically to get a Mini35 or some type of 35 adapter for my cam. So my question is this, is it posible to get a 35 adapter for this cam? if so what would be the best?

Thanks for the input,
Tyler Springer (I am only 14 in case you wondering about that)

Yes you can probably get an adapter for that, or just about any other, modern camera. Not a mini35 though, that's an $11,000 piece of equipment and it only works with certain cameras that they make specific mounts for. But the low-cost units like the Letus, Brevis, M2 etc all mount using lens thread adapters so you should be able to use your cam with any of those.

Tyler, the good side of the story is that most smaller cams like this one can frame and focus an adapter image without the aid of an achromat (special close up lens). All of the larger, more expensive cams (dvx, hvx, hd100 etc.) we've come across so far require help from an achromat.

I'm not sure if I am following you correctly, so you say no achromat. my understanding was that a normal setup for like a DVX or HVX, Etc. was:
Camera -> Adapter -> photo lense (Achromat??). So are you saying that it would just be
Camera -> Adapter????????????? I don't think thats right, could you explain it a little more?

Thanks so much!,
Tyler S.

It's like this:

Camera > Achromat > Adapter > 35 Lens

Most cameras with sensors smaller than 1/3 don't even need an achromat. Like the Sony HC series, Panasonic GS Series, JVC Everio, and a lot more.

oh ok I see now, that very good then, so I only have to have 1 lense instead of two, that makes much more sense! thanks!!
