I'm using a small stealth recording setup based on the Archos 402 camcorder and Sound Professionals SP-PREAMP-4 mic preamp...I purchased a Reactive Sound Auris stereo lav mic which I use for recording ambient location sound...
I was searching for a decent mini-shotgun mic and stumbled across the AKG LM3 modular mic body (which according to the AKG site is discontinued) and the AKG CK47 as well as the AKG CK80 shotgun capsules.
=============
My questions are:
- has anyone used these AKG modular shotgun mics?
- how does the cheaper AKG CK80 shotgun capsule compare to something like the Azden SGM-X mini-shotgun mic?
- if the LM3 body mic is discontinued what do the CK series of modules (which are still manufactured) screw into?
- and finally, how does one use a condenser mic with a preamp that has 'plug-in-power'? I've tried using my Sony stereo condenser mic but all I get is a low freq motorboating when I plug it in...do I need an adapter of some sort that blocks DC?
thanks in advance!
