Mini DV recording question....

Hi, I've got a movie on my computer, (PPRO) and need to dump it to mini dv tape for theatre projection.

Using firewire, will it look the same if I use my DVX100 to record it or can I just use my little Sony Handycam to record it?

Are all digital cameras going to record the data exactly the same?

Or will my DVX100a record it a "little better"???

Thanks!

Darryl

It depends on the type of tape, but why not burn it to a DVD and then project it? Burning to cassette seems like so much work.

I'll be using Panasonic Master Quality mini DV tapes...

The festival wants mini dv to project it....

So is the recording the same regardless of what machine is doing it?

My $$$ DVX100 vs. Sony Handycam....??

It's the same. No diff, it just looks at 0s and 1s. Just make sure it has clean heads and go for it.

Thanks..... I'll give it a run... Do those mini dv cleaner tapes clean the recording head also? or just the play back head? Or are they the same thing??

Hey Shooter... naw, I have to use 2... what a drag, there will be about 10 seconds of blackout during the movie while the projectionist swaps out the tapes....
The film got selected over at the San Fernando Valley Int. Film Fest...
Our first selection... only 10 features.....however, due to our "mature subject matter" they could only screen us Saturday night, midnight.... might be a blessing....?

Hey, what's your opinion on those tape head cleaner tapes... will it clean the recording head and pickup head?

thanks,
Darryl

My opinon is that this is an important event so use the best hardware available to you. Get a new DV tape, clean the heads, put on some music, have a shave and a shower and open a can of beer (or whatever). Do it all properly and dont mess around with cheap options for whatever reason.

Dont forget to check the tape when you finish exporting.

BTW - I use cleaning tapes on my camera and my DV deck - but sparingly
