Mini DV Deck

Can anyone recommend a good mini dv deck so we don't ruin the heads of our directors DVX. I saw one in blade trinity, and was immediately perplexed. Just curious, if anyone knows, or has a link, please let me know, thanks.

Re: Mini DV Deck

Thanks a lot man. I can't afford most of the higher priced stuff. i was hoping they'd have something you can pop the tape into (like a vcr), then just run all the play, record , ff and rew controls on your computer in your video editing application. And this wayit wouldn't ruint he head of the dvx. and i was hoping it'd be able to cost me under 500 bucks. haha. but it looks like i'm just getting a cheap camera. thanks again,

Josh

Re: Mini DV Deck

There are usually some cheap ones ($400-$600 new) available on eBay that do MiniDV and SVHS, including firewire in/out, analog in/out, standalone dubbing back and forth. They often have some edit capabilities, but I don't know how well they stand up to heavy use. I would think for straight capture and print they would do well for a few years. Maybe someone can comment on these (JVC 3u, etc)?

If you are on FCP, Josh, stick with the list, because otherwise the software won't read the Timecode.[/quote]

I'm actually using Vegas 5, and in the next coming months, Avid XPress Pro. I'm probably just going to go ahead and get the one chip camera, get a head cleaner, and stick with my original plan, which was to get an ADVC100 for input\preview output. Thanks a lot though. I've actually bookmarked the page for when i get ready to move to Macs.
