Mini DV Deck recommendations...?

I'm looking into buying a mini dv deck and would like some recommendations for one. I guess I could always use my little Canon Elura 2 but I would prefer a compact deck. This is just to review and capture footage, I'm trying to minimize head wear and tear on my DVX.

Something relatively inexpensive would be desirable, I'm running out of cash. ::)

Re: Mini DV Deck recommendations...?

For a little over $1,000 depending on where you get it, there is always the small and compact Sony GVD-1000 MiniDV deck.

Re: Mini DV Deck recommendations...?

I use a sony DSR-11.. good deck and rather cheap for a Deck. Does DVcam and DV mini and full size.

Re: Mini DV Deck recommendations...?

Why not just use a capture drive? Then you wont have to worry about head wear, or capturing.

thanks to other suggestions, I'll look into it.

Re: Mini DV Deck recommendations...?

Decks come in a couple of flavors -- there's the inexpensive JVC combo DV/VHS decks, at -- what are they, $600-$800? Then there's the Sony clamshells, at about $1000-$1100 or so. Then there's "real decks", like the Sony DSR-11 and Panasonic DV2500, those start at around $1500.

Re: Mini DV Deck recommendations...?

Thanks Barry. Do you have any idea where I can get a DSR-11 for free? ;)
