Hi. I want to buy a mini disc (or similar) for continuous grabs (weddings and interviews). In this way I won´t worry for the rec/stop in my shootings. What MD model do you suggest?

I need some machine that record whit CD quality, cheap and small. Any suggestion?

Re: Mini disc question

SONY MZ-NH900 is the model I have, $300.00. It's one of the new HD (44.1khz, CD quality) recording type. I love it.

You can find used MDs in hock shops, etc... but they'll record up to 32 khz and use ATRAC compression that actually sounds really good (considering) Make sure you buy one with a record in mic jack, they're kind of rare.

I have used it for video foley work, background noise, you name it,.... it's not in the same league as the big boys stuff, but it still does a good job. It's a little too small for me, and therefore a little frustrating at times but overall it works fine. :) ....I still love it! I can put in my pocket and collect sound all day long without causing a ruckuss. Great for building up your own sound library. It'll eventually pay for itself.

you'll need a good mic with an adapter from XLR to mini  :-/

Re: Mini disc question

thanks 10S, I have a azden SGM 2X shootgun microphone, OK I need a adapter XLR to minijack. Where Can I buy one? in a electronic components store?

Re: Mini disc question

Any place that deals with production sound equipment will have it. I have some here. Where are you located? If you are in L.A., then come on by and grab one. If you are somewhere else, I can ship to you, but it would probably be cheaper for you if you found one locally.
