Mini Disc Audio Capturing?

I've heard about people using mini disc's or whatnot to capture audio while shooting. I know that the DVX audio compression is really weak. I've heard that a minidisc can maintain timecode with the camera too. I would like some info, if you know. What would it take to set this up. Thanks

hey,

to the best of my knowledge, most minidisc recorders do NOT carry timecode, and, worse, do not have a constant enough sync system to even stay in sync for long periods with visuals - you may well sync the beginning of a shot only to find its coming out of sync by the end.

Im limiting this experience to minidisc recorders i have used, so I guess there could be time code ones out there - personally, i avoid them like the plague, they are mainly used by journalists to record audio interviews and the like anyway.

hope that helps in some way.

I've never seen a timecode minidisc recorder. Minidisc is a dying breed. Don't waste your money. Get a flash recorder.
