Re: Mini 35 adapter

That is the Mini35 adapter with a cooke 100mm.

As in we I mean DVXuser.com :).. so yeah I guess that's me. P+S was nice enough to send it up for us to review.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

i guess that is one of the fun perks that come with being nice enough to set up this forum for all of us dvx users.  cool toys! ;D cant wait to see the review. not that i have the money, but it'll be cool anyway.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

Street Price is around $7500 for the adapter, you can rent it for around $250 a day. You can Contact Clairmont Camera (www.clairmont.com) to find availability.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

Jarred, this is a great surprise!!!! Can hardly wait for the review....any luck on the DVrig review???

Cheers.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

of course... We are conducting the test over the next few days, if there is anything you would specificaly like to see in the review post it here and I will try and add it to the list.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

oh as for the dvrig.. its 99% done, between getting the batteries out, testing the 35 etc. things are a little backlogged.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

Jarred,

PLEASE try to get ahold of an XL1s and the XL1s adapter, and shoot side-by-side. That is the one test I was unable to conduct, and I'd love to see the results.

Specifically, does the removable lens of the XL1s overcome the limitations of its 7-year-old CCD's, versus do the new-generation, higher-res progressive CCD's of the DVX overcome the limitation of having the fixed lens...

If you can get an XL1s adapter and shoot some res charts and some scenes between the two cameras, using the identical same lens, and same mode (i.e., 60i on both, or 30P vs. frame mode, etc. so there's no whining from the Canon camp) then it'd be great to see the results!

Re: Mini 35 adapter

We actually tested the mini35 on the canon 2 weeks ago... damn. I think I may be able to pull it off though.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

Yes! A side-by-side is the only way to answer the question. Same mini35 unit, same lens, same subject, same lighting, only thing different would be the camera head.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

OH MY GOD!

Did they give you one of those for free? Do you have to return it or you get to keep it? You're so lucky Jarred!

I'm thinking about getting one of those in the near future.

Please post some footage of it soon!

Norm

Re: Mini 35 adapter

Free? no not a chance ha ha. But I do get to use it for a bit, which is pretty cool.

Re: Mini 35 adapter

I would like to see screen grabs with and without the mini35 adapter of a resolution chart. Its important that the pictures you post are 720 X 480 low/no compression images and have the exact same framing between the two of them. Thanks!
