Mimicing the Techniscope 2.33:1 with digital camera

I was asked by a local hometown film festival to remake a scene from one of my favorite movies, American Graffiti.

Ideally I'd love to use my HVX (or i have my friends ex3 which he'd probably let me borrow) to capture a close replica to the 2.33:1 that the techniscope cameras brought us back in the day. Any thoughts / examples / ideas would be massively appreciated.

hey Matty G ( really solid website / work by the way )

my current idea is to shoot w/ an anamorphic adaptor (not minding the SD because i want it as grainy as possible) and then in post cropping it down and then up to get 2:33 switch to 2:35 (as it had to be done w/ Graffiti and Leone's films).
