A few months ago I purchased an Indisystems Areeba shoulder mount system for my VG-10. I've been very pleased with it overall...well built, highly adjustable with room to mount everything I need. The only "issue" I had was using the followfocus one-handed off tripod. It's not terribly light, and taking one hand off the handles to adjust focus could cause a shot tp be pulled to the side and down.
I got a package in the mail yesterday that looks to cure that. Indisystems showed a prototype focus controller ( the Mimic) at a show earlier this year, and I just recieved the production version. It replaces the front handle on one side with a new handle, with a knurled wheel positioned right where your thumb falls. A pulley asspembly mounts to the follow focus with a tube style rubber belt connecting the two.
Turn the knurled knob with your thumb, change focus. Simple, ingenious and works....well! now I can leave both hands in place, and still adjust focus without any shake or camera movement.. Seems like a well engineered addition to a good system
