Here is my two cents..

California needs to step it up. legalize, industrialize, tax and regulate then watch this massive debt we have be cleared. This Mary Jane is not going away and has so many more uses outside of getting you stoned. it is already a mass produced crop here in CA.

Teach people about the positives as well as the negatives. With society in mind MJ might just have a lot more positives. Just think of the wonders it would do to the economy. MJ is already so widely available... the choice is already there. I don’t think we would see massive growth in casual users if it was legalized. What we would see is a lot more people use it for medical reasons. And it would be mass-produced for several of its industrial purposes.

You can get prescriptions for it here and go to a shop and buy it. It is only a matter of time before further steps are taken. Lets get used to it and make sure all the voices are heard on the subject. The day has come where MJ is not just for ‘stoners’. I bet there will be a lot of farmers and doctors at that march.

Tex Mex is good though. I ate in a tex mex in long island once.
...I think im gunna go get some taco bell

There would have to be no new laws needed to be put in place, Isara. People are smoking as much pot now as there would be whether the ancient and unfounded marijuana stamp act was in place. People do what they are going to do.
You honestly believe no new laws would need to be created? That is, with all do respect, ridiculous. They're creating new laws for cell phones because of idiots talking while driving. I can't buy Lawn Darts, a fun game, because of a few idiots. The US is law crazy and it's the losers who ruin it for the rest of us. You may be someone who doesn't need the law, but for every one of you there's a hundred who are idiots. And I don't want them to have easy access to pot (or alcohol) until they are educated and non-abusive. Consider it tough love, but it works.

I agree, alcohol is "the bane of society" and I don't think adding another drug into the market, no matter how harmless, is a good idea (right now). We all have a stash of happiness inside us (no, not from smuggling), we just need to learn how to activate it. Evolution came from struggles, not from taking easy answers in pill, joint, or liquid form.

I can't understand why I'm the only one talking about education, an actual "real" solution, instead of the broken record "legalize it!" Can somebody throw me a freakin bone here??!!! I feel like I'm taking CRAZY PILLS!!! :)

Isara don't let them take lawn darts away from you. Take to the streets!! I don't understand how they could illegalize something like that.

EDIT: What about throwing knives?

PK, what you're doing is yelling at a pile of rocks.

The ones who "use", aren't worth the trouble, simple, they're just a sad group of users.

You can't reason with potheads, they want to get wasted, pot doesn't do anything else.

Don't waste your time on them PK, they aren't worth it.

OK, let's be civil.

Ummm, this is a discussion about pot heads wanting to legalize a drug they are now using.

The "OK, let's be civil", can only be directed to the "users".

What they are using now is illegal. Hence, they are violating the laws.

Please don't start to defend the "users" Jubal28, they have no rights in the matter.

At one point consciousness-altering devices like the microscope and telescope were criminalized for exactly the same reason that psychedelic plants were banned in later years. They allow us to peer into bits and zones of Chaos.
-Dr. Timothy Leary

People will continue to use for recreational purposes if you legalize or not. It should be about educating people about its other benefits and uses. Im not smoking but I can appreciate why someone with AIDS or CANCER would want to relieve their pain via a simple non addictive herb. Or why a farmer would seek to grow a crop he can harvest 3 times a year for good $$. Users are no longer just “pot heads”. Pretty soon you will be looking to fill your car's tank on fuel made from the seeds.

These aren't suffering people here Kovarova, they are users, they want it for getting their buzz, nothing else.

A major difference.

i think i missed it... who said they were users?

Kovarova - Yes, I lived in San Clemente, CA when I was a mere teenager and after-school surfer. I saw alot of my Junior High friends start to use alcohol and drugs and it was frightening. But that was the early 80's when Miami Vice was popular. :) Maybe things have changed since then.

Ian - 6,700 people were "injured" from 1978-1987 by Lawn Darts. (The Internet is full of useless information.) More people have been injured playing golf than Lawn Darts. We can buy assault rifles to protect our homes, but if you attack a burglar with a Lawn Dart, then you're the criminal? WTF? Maybe we should write our Congressmen or start an online petition to bring back Giant Throwing Darts!

Kovarova Thats another thing if marijuana were legal there would have to be more laws. Would I be allowed to grow my own crop and sell to anybody I want?

Isara I agree with you on that. Its stupid how we're not allowed to play with lawn darts but if you're 18 you can buy an assault rifle(according to a gun salesman in orlando I know. He'll sell me an AK-M for $300 and i'm only 18). But NO hang guns. If someone breaks into your home and you shoot them you better be ready to stand in front of a judge.

GEEZ!!!! By the time it took me to write my 2 paragraph post, 20 other people posted responses. I must learn to type faster or care less about the content of my post.

Thanks pookie. FYI: Your name doesn't match your intellect and attitude. You need a tougher name. Or is this to catch your victims off guard? Like a cute and cuddly killer rabbit? How about Mr. Pookie?
