"Miller Tripods (officially called Miller Camera Support Equipment), a family business run by Mark and Diane Clementson, is said to be ceasing operations on 30 September 2026. Mark and Diane have decided to retire and shut down the business. From what I understand, they were looking for a buyer, but with no success."

Well, you know two now. Those are the exact sticks I have to go with my ArrowX5 Miller head. ;) I love my Miller Tripod.

They actually have some absolutely unbelievable deals on their website right now, for the going out of business sale. I picked up some more gear from the sale and I know it's going to have a long life, whether they're in business or not.

My understanding is that it has nothing to do with business and everything to do with the owners retiring. But I'm sure there's some nuance and stuff we won't ever know.

Let's make that three. I just bought a 75mm bowl carbon Sprinter II tripod with CX 2 head (nice for smaller rigs, my Miller-using friend says). For like $750 including tax and shipping (in US, btw). There are some other perhaps better deals depending on what you need, including 100mm bowl sticks and heads. So thanks for the heads up on the sale. I heard, but it's just from my one Miller friend, that they looked for a buyer but didn't entice anyone they wanted to sell to (ie- perhaps someone just wanted the name and was going to slap that on cheap stuff). As you say, we won't know for sure, but nice to see them appear to have some choice in the matter.

Those are some crazy deals. If I was in the market for a tripod I'd bite. And the thing is they're built so well I'd imagine you don't have to worry about warranties as much...
 
I’m so sensible about buying these days. For a long time I wanted a used vinten vision 100 system, thanks to run & gun making me aware of it years ago. The miller purchase takes this out of the conversation - one less thing to think about, no more checking eBay!
 
Ya, I was looking at off-brand US$800(ish) tripods to supplement my good Sachtler. and just wasn't feeling it. Maybe those other tripods will stand up, maybe they won't. Nice to be able to buy quality equipment for the same price as questionable equipment. Though again, the reason for the deals is a bummer.

Yeah, that one hurts. Miller has been one of those brands you could recommend without a lot of caveats — solid, practical gear that just did the job for years. It’s especially sad when it’s not some dramatic failure, but simply a family-run company reaching the end of the road without a buyer.

I hope parts and service support remain available for a while, because there are a lot of Miller heads and legs still earning their keep out there. Definitely a loss for the industry.
