Miller Legs

Has anyone had a chance to look at the Miller Sprinter II legs yet? I was looking at pairing them with the Cartoni Fous Head. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. Along with that, if I could also get a feel for whether the Carbon Fiber is worth the extra $500.00. I know it's lighter but that's a lot of money for 1.3 pounds.

Here are the links:

If there are Miller(Or other brand) legs you feel are better suited for the Cartoni Focus, please let me know that also.

Thanks for the help!

Chuck,

I have exactly the system you are considering, Focus on Sprinter II and absolutely love it. The sprinters are the best sticks I've ever used. Every operator I show them to is instantly jealous at the thoughtful touches that set them apart from the rest of the sticks out there. I agree with Flash about the solo legs and especially his sentiments about good sticks being critical. The big tipping point for me with the Sprinters was my need to use the rig with teleprompter and eventually an Avanta jib, the Sprinter's design seemed more appropriate for my future plans. I would however love to have a solo lying around as well, you will love both systems. I am in the OC/LA area in California if you would like to check out the rig.

Be aware, when you buy the Sprinters without Miller's head, it is no longer package priced and they will charge you for the spreader and feet seperately. Also, the lock nut for the focus is too small to lock to the Sprinter bowl, you will need to order the wider Lock down from Cartoni. I'll post some pix of the rig shortly.

That's great to hear. It's nice knowing that someone has personally used them and liked them. Thanks also for the advice about the spreader, feet and lock nut. I won't have as much equipment loaded on it as you and I will be hiking with it some. Will just need to decide if I need to go with the Sprinter or Solo. Did you get carbon fiber or aluminum?

Thanks again!

Hi Chuck!

Hey Filmstox is right on about about the advantages of the Sprinter. Especially with some of the extras going on like filmstox will have. The Sprinter legs if I'm not mistaken are rated for 99lbs, and the Solo I know is rated at 66 lbs.

Our main thing was a beefy tripod with light weight, and no spreader. But the Sprinter II may give you a lot more of what you're looking for. And its pretty sharp you can get an actual user, who can even recommend the correct Cartoni fitting too!

I was planning on the carbon fiber until I got the call that the Spreader and Feet were going to be extra. That cash came out of the difference between aluminum and CF. The aluminum are still pretty light and I just added a great neoprene shoulder strap that makes it the easiest tripod I've ever had to carry.
