Miller DS-5 tripod? other advice...

Anybody know whether the Miller DS-5 is a decent tripod for the DVX? I'm trying to plan my kit on a budget and have been planning on the Cartoni APRO, but found one of these used...

Also, from what I've gleaned off these boards, it looks like EVS is the place to buy from, and the ME66 is a good shotgun mic to invest in. I've got about $5000 to play with. Any other opinions? This is my first major video purchase and I want to do it right. Mostly interested in doc work but maybe a narrative short or music video in the future.

I have the DS-5 and I love it... So amazingly smooth and VERY smart design. It's my best purchase for the DVX thus far

I have the DS-10 just a bit bigger and heavier. Miller make a great tripod and the DVX is light enough to go on the DS-5 so I'd say go for it :)
By the way if you can afford a 416 instead of a 66 do that it is a much nicer mic.

As tawsy said the Miller DS-10 is a nice fluid head though a bit heavier. I have one for my DVX. It has the advantage of being adjustable from 2 kg load (like the DS-5) to 5 kg. This is handy if you intend on loading up your DVX with matt box, follow focus or what have you. I currently use it in the 2kg setting. (I live in hope of purchasing the matt box and follow focus.) When I do I can change the load of the fluid head to 5kg.
I purchased the Miller Solo DV 10 75mm Carbon System. 2-Stage, Carbon/magnesium telescoping, spreadless which permit low ground shots lke a high hat to over the top shots. Used it last night on my doco.
Quick to set up, great fluid head and light to carry. Comes in a soft bag with a smart strap that takes the bounce of the load as you walk.
It was a great purchase, and Miller happen to be Austrailan.

I got the high spreader version still allows set up on some pretty insane terrain!

FYI the DS5 will hold a mattebox, mic, follow focus, etc. just fine with complete smootheness!
