Mike Suggestions?

Hello! I've had my dvx-100a for a few months now and mostly been shooting concerts with a seperatly recorded audio track, BUT I've recently shot some stuff with actors in it and I discovered the onboard mike is almost totally unusable (which I expected, but I got much better sound with my vx-2000). I need a suggestions if anyone can offer one for a decently priced shotgun or boom mike that has worked well for some of you....

is there some sort of volume setting for the onboard mike volume? It just seems really poor qulality to me for such an expensive camera...

Re: Mike Suggestions?

If you can afford it, the Sanken CS1 is a fantastic little mic - a great alrounder. Compact, good rejection of off axis noise, but still wide enough to use indoors. Pricey though, a little under a grand US off the top of my head - the thing is with a quality mic though, it will last you twenty years if you look after it (so it will do a good job for you through half a dozen camera upgrades)

yeah, looking on the lower end of the money spectrum... something thats a decent mike to get louder sound. I'm desperate! but thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Mike Suggestions?

The stock mics on $30,000+ cameras sound like crude for dialog too. You buy the video...audio is another beast.
