Mike Shanahan

Yeah, your offense isn't going anywhere. I wouldn't worry about that. I've heard that Cutler was kept in the loop and had some say as to who they were hiring as the coach as well as keeping most of the offensive coaching staff on. I would probably expect some changes on play calling (which is a given) but as far as players, I wouldn't worry about them rebuilding on offense. Expect changes to the D and there are some rumours that Dom Capers (one of our defensive coaches) may be on his way to Denver, although that's just speculation.

You guys should have an improved team next (and that's not a knock on Shanahan, but I think it's possible some of the players tuned him out).

Yeah, done is done. I have always admired and respected Shanahan, and will continue to. But Pat Bowlen never called me for my input, so all I can do is hope that McDaniels will do a good job. He's got some big shoes to fill, but then again at that age, he's probably still growing :)

...so he was about 11 when Shanahan first came to work for the Broncos and 16 when Shanahan took over as head coach...

That's pretty crazy isn't?

I think in the coming years were going to see more and more of younger head coaches, as we have the past few.

Is McDaniels ready for the Job? Time will tell, but he's got all the right tools and has been trained and mentored by one of the best ever. If he surronds himself with the right coaches and assistants, he'll be fine, in my opinion coaching in the NFL is all about delegating your staff, it's too huge a beast to try and control everything on your own, you can to a certain extent but at some point your going to have to trust your staff to do their jobs and get the players prepared. If anything, I'd be excited that that's what he's bringing to the Broncos.

On the bright side, he may not only be a great coach, but he may be a great coach for the next 20 years or so.

That's true too.

The downside, is he could turn out to be like Mangini, although you can't really compare what the Jets had when Mangini took over to what McDaniels is walking into, good offense, that should put up some good numbers.

Do you know where you guys ranked in Defense this year? And offense also?

Another interesting bit of information is that during our 16-0 season last year McDaniels came up with quite a few of the game plans and basically called every play. And even this year, our offense put up good numbers without Brady and under Cassel.

I think total offense as around 3rd or 4th, and defense had to be near 20th. I didn't check the final numbers. A little work on special teams wouldn't hurt either.

I agree about Mangini, plus you have to factor in Favre (plusses and minuses) in that equation.

Counting down to mini-camp.

Word on the street here in KC is that an announcment will be made in the next few days. I personally would rather see him go somewhere else. Herm Edwards to the Jets or Broncos's??? He was fired today btw.

NFL commeissioner put a ban on any press releases for a week before the superbowl so I'm assuming this new chiefs announcment will come next monday.
