mike problem

IM clueless righttt nwww...i bought a tunmic ht-81 uni-directional electret condensor microphone for my dvx 102ben pal to use as a boom and i spent some money to buy a boom stand along with this. but the mike does not fit into the input 1 or input 2 (xlr 3pin) terminal. it only fits into the one which says "lines" under the record button.

so my question is does this even work, because whn i use it. it makes no difference in the sound quality. as i thnk the camera is still using the existent in camera microphone, how do i switch off the in camera microphone and will this extra microphone work even though it goes into the "lines" hole, which is used for headphones.

you cant plug a mic into the headphone jack. Only xlr 3 pin mics can be connected. There are adapters for this though I'm not sure how well this will work.

you need a better mic - return that one and buy condenser which would go directly to xlrs

oh man..i spent like a hundred dollars on it...
Entry-level pro mics start around $200. High-quality workhorse mics are typically in the $1500 range. Above that, you start to get a bit of diminishing return: specialised studio mics can cost in excess of $4000.
Microphone support gear (shock mount, wind protection) typically costs more than $100.
Consumer and pro-sumer mics may look like a bargain, but they are generally a waste of money. Try to return your mic for a refund or credit towards a professional mic. In the meantime, read the stickies on this forum for some excellent entry-level mic sugestions.
