Mics advice for internal scenes.

Hi all, I have more or less got all my gear together for a horror movie I am shooting later this year.

I have a 416 for outside, and also two Countryman B6 lavs.

But what mic is best for internal work? Do I use the 416, or is there someting better for inclosed space?

Any advice would be appriciated.

As side, I have a spare Sennheiser 416 P48, and have just put it up on Ebay. Works perfectly and is in A1 condition. Just don't need two of them. I post worldwide.

couple of schoepses cmc 6/ mk 41 /4 , cables to split the heads , swivel joint to record in the closet or neumann 100+50/45 with cables will be nice or just 185/184 if you dont have enouth bread
pzms( the sanken cub-1) is very nice of some kind for grate supper table

Thanks. I am looking for decent quality in up to the same price range of a 416.

Happy to pay for a second hand hypercardiod up to £500 ( $900)

Cheers
Steve

George, why buy a pair of hyper cardioids? Surely you would only use one with a single camera shoot?

Wow just when I think I am getting there audio gear wise it comes up and bites me right on the ass!

there are allot of times you cant handle with one mic fast dialog or cant swing the boom because the shadows , there are times you will need to record outside dialog for overlaps when the director doesnt want mechanical cuts

believe me - to record inside you need more then one mic , better if you will be able to split it as schoeps or neumann ka-100 to use it as plants

not that outside you dont have these problems , but the headrooms and distances become problem which make you put wireless

the 185/ old 85 neumann's can be very good solution( they are like 100+50)
the 185 is around 390 pounds icl vat at boxymusic.com +shipping

george can you explain what you mean about cables to split the heads?

are you saying to hypercardioid capsules going to one mic body?

do you have a picture of the setup your describing?

matthew

the schoeps mics heads ( cmc +mk ) could be separate from the amp with collet cable
the neumann are work the same - the km 100 with ak capsules
so the mic becomes very small and could be placed behind the regullar ashtray on the table or bible - depends on the situation :-)

wow, thats a cool tip i never heard before. so can you split two heads into one preamp? probably not, im guessing...

schoeps does have dual preamp( 62 ) for x/y ,MS settings with mk capsules inside small rycote .5 pin xlr out , but usially it not in use in regular situations
