Microphone Suggestions

Hi. I work doing post for TV & Radio and recording music. I will be helping a friend recording the audio for his short film and doing all the post. I will be recording with a Tascam HD-P2. I am concerned about microphones. As he told me 50% of the shots will be indoors and 50% outdoors. Of the microphones I have the most likely candidate (outdoors) is a Sennheiser 441. I know this is not a shotgun but is the most directional mic I own. And is the mic that I sometimes use to match production audios for voice-overs. Has someone used this in the field with success? If so, are there any options for shockmount and wind protection for it? As for indoor I have AKG441, Neumann KM84 (cardioid), Shure SM81 and even the Sennheiser 441. Again studio mics. I am looking for suggestions. Thanks

you may be better off getting some production mics. Is that an option?

Oktava mk012 hyper ($200)
Rode ntg1 shotgun ($220) or at 4073a ($550)

Buying new mics is not an option. He has no budget and I will be buying the boom and wind protection. I am looking for suggestions because I'm pretty sure that with the mics menioned I will get better audio than the stock mic on his camera. I was thinking the Sennheiser 441(super-cardiod) for indoor/outdoors and the KM84 (cardioid) for indoors in quiet. I have read through some posts that someone had available to rent a Sennheiser 441 so I think some people might use it in the field. I've also seen it used in some productions as well, but without wind protection. Thanks

I would try the 441 inside and out. I have heard of using a cardioid to boom two people indoors and split the difference. Closest mic wins! Good luck!
