Microphone Recommendations

I'm looking for microphone advice. I just purchased a DVX 100B and I'm looking to spend between 100 and 200 dollars for a new mic. to connect to the camera. I was just looking for some advice from some of the veteran users. IE. Is it worth it to spend a few dollars more or are there some great low budget microphones?
Really any advice or opinions i'd appreciate.
Thanks in advance.

just did a lot of research yesterday and finally ordered a oktava mk-012.
you can search for "oktava" on dvxuser to have some details.

Hello. I bought a DVX100B in February and just started using it a whole lot more. One thing I noticed is that outdoor shots are often really good since lighting outside isn't too much of a problem. There's usually plenty of it!

However I've noticed that there are things I can do to improve the production value since the camera does some good things, but is lacking in other areas.
For instance sound is good in certain closed areas, but bad in others. And lighting is usually poor indoors. Outdoor scenes can be filtered out for some shots using on camera ND filters and aperture settings.

However, here's the clincher. I am not ready to spend on a lighting kit yet... maybe in a few weeks. But let's say I want to improve sound right now, should I get a wireless or a wired shotgun package or mix and match both or should I mix shotgun pieces with other things like wind protectors... And what's phantom powered by the way?

My grand total I'm willing to spend is about $2500. But ideally around $1200-$1500 or less. I want PRO equipment and the most for my buck because I'm going to be starting my own business later on I think. So I'll be using the equipment for indoor and outdoor situations. Any possible situation preferably within my budget.

If someone wants to tell me: "No, no you crazy man! Spend some of that on lighting or some filters or something else like give it to me" I'd be willing to listen to that advice too.

l33t, this is a threadjack. Start your own thread. Sewellyboy, you might want to post in the audio section - BUT your question has been asked and answered ad nauseum. Read the stickies in the audio section and do a few searches. I'm sure you'll find out lots of answers. I'll give you a real quick response though. Cheapest budget mics recommended by most users:

Shotguns (for outdoor or LARGE studio use): Rode NTG-1 or NTG-2 or Audio Technica 897.

Hypercardiod (for indoor use) Oktava MK012 + sound protection (Baby Ball Gag from Rycote) as the gentleman above mentioned. This is the best deal in audio.

Lavs: Countryman EMW is what I reccommend on a budget. I have two. Countryman B6 is highly recommended by others but is more expensive.
