Microphone for Weddings

hey guys! I pretty much have a professional look for my weddings videos and everyone loves them, except I think the only thing I am missing (I am missing a lot but one of the main things) is better sound quality. I am not on a big budget as I am still paying for my DVX, but I need a good lav. mic. I don't know what is the best set up for audio though. I always get so confused. Cuz if I put a lav. mic on the groom I will capture awesome audio from the pastor, bride, and groom, but what if someone sings a special song, or what if someone speaks from the seats, or what if the bride and groom are standing farther from the pastor (one of my weddings was like this). I can't just unplug the lav mic from the DVX and switch to the internal mic from the DVX. Can someone please help me out with something good that I can do? thanks!

I've never actually done a wedding before, but I've been in situations where that same predicament happened. Basically, you set your left channel to pick up the lav, and your right channel to pick up the music... and in post, just duplicate the channel you want to the other one. You'll be working with mono audio, but it should work just fine for you.

Premiere, FCP and Vegas can all do this. I haven't done it with FCP and Vegas, myself, but I know it can be done in all three. Basically in Premiere, there's an audio effect called "swap channels" and essentially you just make two copies of the audio and swap the channels and mute the left or right of both of those channels depending on which audio you want (the lav or the music)
