Microfiber cloth...

I wasn't sure where to post this so I'm sorry if it's in the wrong area.

I just wiped my monitor off with a microfiber cloth and now it's dusty. My question is can I wash them? I have no idea what so every if you can. If not, how should I go about cleaning it? I bought it for my DVX lens, but I do not want to wipe it until it's clean. Thanks.

Re: Microfiber cloth...

Your computer monitor? I use a cloth that is specifically made for Flatscreen LCD cleaning; its a kind of 'wetnap' with a cleaning solution (mild soap Im sure). It works great on my monitor as well as my DVX100 LCD.

Now, for DVX LENS and UV and Glass Filters I use only a microfiber cloth with NO CLEANING SOLUTION. Just condensation from 'puffing' on the glass and then lightly cleaning.

I would'nt use the same one on your computer and THEN on the DVX by the way.

Re: Microfiber cloth...

Yeah I didn't John. I have one I only use for the DVX. The one I got dirty I got in a Sam's Club lens cleaner pack with another one. However it's the same type cloth I use for the DVX. I won't switch the clothes around. Now that we got that out of the way, can I wash them or are they no good after they get dirty.

Re: Microfiber cloth...

Tyler--No problem, when your microfiber cloth gets dirty, rinse it out. You can also use a small bit of mild detergent if it needs it.

Simple green does the trick for me. Just a drop, or you will be sudsing it out all week.

SIMPLEGREEN is bringing up bad memories of the Coast Guard. I think the Government has stock in this stuff :P

What do you think they use for your shower gel, shaving cream, tooth paste, and to make the ice cream taste creamier?

Not in the Coastguard. Simple green and cow hooves. Only the best for the boys and girls in blue (or whatever the feck color you are wearing now).

Re: Microfiber cloth...

I was told to clean my lens with cleaning solution and microfiber cloth. I bought some lens cleaner from the optical department at Sam's Club. I spray it on and wipe it with the microfiber cloth.

Lenses have a thin layer of coating which does a series of things from reject some UV to prevent baffle flare. A purist would say baby that layer as without it, you don't have a camera. The question is, how long will the camera have to produce optimal pictures for you before it is replaced.

With water on the lens leaving spots, I know of no other way to safely clean it than liquid and microfiber cloth.

Re: Microfiber cloth...

I just picked up this cleaning cloth from the computer store to use on my flip out screen and it worked! Smudges are gone! I did also buy some Screen Cleaning wipes but the cloth did the trick.
