HPX250: Micro P2 not recognized by HPX250 when offloading to USB drive

Tried offloading footage to my USB Hard drive directly from the HPX250. Works fine with my E-Series cards, but it doesn't see my
Micro P2 cards. When offloading to P2 Viewer Plus, the computer sees the Micro P2 cards fine, but not the HPX250 when offloading to USB drive.

Is this normal?
 
Normal? I wouldn't call it normal but it is the way the 250 "works". I ran into this problem a couple of years ago on the road. I was used to offloading the P2 cards from the camera directly to an external HD. I bought a new Micro P2 64 GB card and adapter prior to leaving town, assuming I could offload it normally. In the hotel room at the end of the first day I tried unloading the Micro P2 card and it wouldn't! Nothing would convince the camera to move that data so I was left with just one normal P2 card which I could offload.

Back at the office I got on the horn to Panasonic and after speaking with several folks at Panasonic the final answer was, "Hmm, I guess that (offloading Micro P2 cards from the 250 to external HD) isn't supported." That little tidbit is documented in the fine print in ONE web page on the Panny web site but NOT in the normal documentation.
 
Someone else mentioned that it could be the size of the card, that the 64Gb Micro P2 was not supported but maybe the 32Gb was. Which I find strange in that the 64Gb E-Series is supported. So it is probably a Micro P2 thing that no one bothered to check before releasing.
 
Their PCD-20, 30 P2 readers require firmware upgrade to be able to read Micro P2.

If enough users complain and request to P. then I think the next firmware update may include that feature.

The PX-270 should be able to offload to Micro P2 natively. If it's not, then I'm shocked.

Micro P2 (SDHC form factor) readers are abundant in many laptops. Even a cheap $200 PC notebook has it. It is an inconvenience for bring netbook but I guess that's the trend for Micro P2. Great for small volume shooting only. P2 is still widely supported for heavy volume offloading (their AG-MSU10 or 3rd party copying device). I would not move to Micro P2 only if you ever run into continuous long-form coverage and high multi cam situations unless you can get at least 30-40 Micro P2 cards on location.

I always bring a cheap internet notebook, laptop with me when on the road. You need see your emails anyway,etc. I bought one for $125. Just plug in a USB harddrive for unloading. Works great. Of course you may not have a USB port for certain Apple products, cause they have their head in somewhere else.
