Micing talent near metal frames

Very soon I need to film talent talking infront of products (these are glass / metal framed shower units) and we film indoors. As there are only 2 of us on this shoot I was hoping to mic talent using G2 wireless (and mke2) so they coud move about as they need to physically move around a little (the idea was that we could focus on camera and any potential lighting issues as trying to follow talent with a boom woudl be tricky)

However someone mentioned to me there could be problems with the wireless G2 transmitters where metal is concerned - e.g if talent touches a handle or ther eis a chance the VHF signals can be disturbed by metal frames? Is this true?

There should be no metal frames between the talent and receiveer so is this likely to be a problem?

Appreciate any feedback folks may have on this :-)

the problem is multyply reception from the signal which hitting the surface then comes to antenna what make dropouts in sound , better use dyvercity system in places like that .
or keep the reciever in front of the talent
wear headphones and if you have hits change the place of the reciever
the g-2 is uhf not vhf
maybe a time to change the nik :-)

Have done this shoot and a couple of issues did come up. The wireless unit did have one or 2 reception issues resulting in peaking audio, but the main issue ( now I am editing) is volume consistency and top end phasing issues which occurred as talent turned head away from lav ( which was positioned on a lapel).

So when pointing at something or demoing something the head would turn to the side away from the mic.

We put lav on lapel hoping all would be ok but if talent turned one way it would go louder and turn the other way and you get a volume drop or the top end frequencey dropped away.

The lav we used was a Senn MKE2. Was this the wrong type of lav? Is there anything we should have done differently?

I do now wonder weather a mic around the ear would help stay a relative distance to the mouth when moving would have been a better solution?

Any suggestions most welcome, as we will need to shoot this kind of scenerio again

thanks folks

thanks Oleg.

So would this require 2 transmitters or is there a device to allow you to hook up more than one mic into the G2?

couldn't use tie knot as female with open neck tshirt on :-)

thanks

2 transmitters as i did , dont know of effect to place 2 mics parallel - may work - not sure about quality
female - what are the tits for :-) ,in between

Oleg, you make me laugh.

In more politically correct terminology, bras make a great place to stick a lav. I've rarely gotten clothing rub when placed there. :-)

the best response you get when you placing the tx on the upper leg under the dress and asking what way you like the antenna:-)
(yes i am chauvinist and a lesbian)
that is a joke by the way

ok - you learn something new everyday :-)

When you refer to

"better use dyvercity system in places like that "

Do you mean the mains receiver version like the Senn EW122? Do these offer better reception of signal than the smaller battery operated on-camera versions from experience?

thanks again

no, they dont
if you need grater range you can operate any of these ( bag or stationary one ) with remote antennas placing them closer to the set or over the set or get benefit from directional ones which would narrow the pick up pattern to the side you transmitting from ,

the 122 stationary is diversity receiver so would be less problematic with reflected signals then the regular .
