micing for weddings

what is the propper equipment and procedure of getting good audio at a wedding ceremony. I am shooting with the HVX200a and already have a rode ntg2 with xlr cables and mic stands. I keep hearing about putting a lav on the groom but I dont understand how one lav can get the whole thing can someone put some input and recommendations for equipment.

An omnidirectional lavalier usually does a pretty good job of getting the bride and groom. In my experience, you don't get great audio from the church sound system through it, although you do of course get the officiant when he's close to the B&G. I don't do weddings for money, just every now and then for friends, so what I is just go for the best audio of them I can and live with just "OK" audio from the rest of the ceremony.

Every now and then I do weddings and I am looking for good wireless lav suggestions. I was also told that I should look into some type of recorder to place into the groom's pocket to capture the audio instead of a wireless lav system.

Conventional wisdom on the board is not to go with anything less than the Sennheiser Evolution G2 series (although some will say to not even go that low. :), and then replace the mic with a better one. They're not exactly "cheap," but the idea that "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here.
