For those of you with a Michaels nearby...

I picked up some new foam core for bounce this morning at .67 cents a board for White/White. Usually these things run 3 1/2 to 4 dollars a piece. Might want to call your location and see if they are having a similar sale.

Great tip! I've seen these things go for upwards of $5 a "piece."

essential for lighting and nice as a giant white card for white balancing.
 
I still needed one with a Silver backing though and had to pay 4.50 for that one; bastids. It's foamcore!
 
Michaels also has those great white tri fold "Science Fair" boards. They are free standing reflectors. They work great for fill on a floor thats going dark, or good wrap around fill on people. They fold flat and are pretty cheap too. Anytime you can get something to work for you thats not made specifically for video or photography, you can usually save about 90%
 
What's best way to support foam core,--apart from holding it?
BTW good suggestion on the science fairs boards pptphoto!
Been using them at trade fairs,---never thought of them as lighting application.
