Michael Slovis discusses the cinematography of Breaking Bad

Nice post. You're great at always finding these.. :)

Thanks man, I appreciate that. If you're interested in more, I find a lot of these types of things and post them regularly on my Twitter or Facebook page. I only post things here occasionally because I don't want to seem like I'm spamming.

But these two links were too excellent to keep to myself. :)

Ok following you now cheers.

What do you think about Micheal interview?

I think it's very informative. He elaborates on many artistic choices, using some specific examples, and gives some great insight into the series. I think it's worth it even if you're not a BB fan (blasphemy), but as a fan and aspiring filmmaker it's even better.

I like what he says about using wide shots instead of typical mainstream cookie-cutter CU's. I learned something right there in that video, and seriously, am very happy you posted it.

Just started the show and I love it ( the first few episodes were a little slow but man does it pick up) and my main question is there any spoilers, only halfway through season 2.

ReelFilmGeek, buckle up! You're in for a ride. Be careful of the thread "Breaking Bad." Everyone on there is caught up and you'll find spoilers there.

Holy cow, that is fantastic. Thanks for posting. Michael Slovis, now in the ASC, really set the bar pretty high when it comes to cinematography for scripted TV.

Thanks, I listened to that on a drive today. He talks about the lighting they use... all tungsten, all old school. It's a good listen.

I crammed Breaking Bad in over the last month to see the finale live. So glad i did, and the whole time i was admiring Michael Slovis' work. As he mentions, i really took notice of how dark the house was lit in Season 5. I couldn't help but think it started to feel like Michael Corleone had moved in!

Really cool to see the rig they built for the scene where Jesse floats in the bedroom.
