Michael Joly Questions...

[Gregg Juke]

Hey All,

I'm going to be in Cape Cod at the end of the summer, and it looks like I'll be getting together with Michael Joly from OktavaMod to do an interview.

Since there's a bit of lead time, I thought maybe some of you have had some burning questions for MJ. If so, please leave them here and I'll collect up what I can and present them to him when I go to CC in August.

Looking to get the interview into print, but will most assuredly do a podcast version that I can post on Soundcloud as well.

So post a question or two and we'll see what we can find out...

[Rick R]

- Why is the 012/MJ mod superior to the Bill Sitler and the original Dorcey mod? (Of course I would not expect Micheal to give away design secrets and specifics though)
- Comment on Oktava's infamous quality control issues,
- Comment on the equally infamous 012 'counterfeits' from China
- Is MJ familiar with The Sound Room.. another supplier of Oktavas?

Good questions that I will ask, Rick! I'm definitely going to want to get into the "authorized Oktava" controversy, because mods aside, there's a lot of questions regarding the provenance and qc of some of those mikes, and who really owns the name "Oktava." GJ
