The mic comes with shock mount which is great. I will be taking the output out from the preamp via a 1/4 jack to 1/3 to connect to my PC or my Line In socket in my mindisc. Will this work

Thanks

It will work just fine - I have an NT1a myself.

You need to be careful in connecting the output of the preamp to your PC or minidisc because a simple stereo (TRS) 1/4 to stereo (TRS) mini 1/8 adapter cable will not work properly. The preamp output is balanced mono while your soundcard or mini disc expects an unbalanced stereo input. If you use a simple adapter cable connected tip to tip, ring to ring, and sleeve to sleeve you'll get signal but you'll have the mono mic signal recorded on both left and right channels 180 degrees out of phase with each other. Will sound fine on headphones, potentially lousy on speakers, and if mixed down to true single channel mono later the voiceover will disappear all together. Your cable needs to connect the 1/4 tip to 1/8 tip AND ring, 1/4 ring to 1/8 sleeve, 1/4 sleeve to cable shield, shield unconnected at 1/8 end for it all to work like it should.

I have no idea what this is, can you find an example on the web of theses jacks, im only a novice. Thanks
