Mic recommendations. Sennheiser only.

Hello everyone. I need to buy a couple of microphones for the shoots I will be doing in the near future. My audio set up will be pretty simple from the looks of it. I'm mostly going to be shooting interviews where the people are sitting down in relatively quiet corporate office rooms or in a noise free studio.

I'm looking at a wireless lavalier mic for the interviews plus one shotgun (MKH 416 is what I have in mind) + boom pole just in case I do need to do some shooting outside (Wind is not that much of an issue)

I searched for these on the forum but issue is, the recommended brands and models are unavailable here in India. I've only got Sennheiser's line to look at.

Could someone please recommend a few Sennheiser mics + accessories (like transmitter for the lav) that would work well for my kind of usage? My budget is roughly around $2000 for everything but I'm not really sure if I would need to spend this much for what I need to do. If something cheaper would be enough, that's great. Thanks in advance.

P.S I forgot to mention that my crew consists of only 3 people. 1 for sound, 1 doing the interviews and me on the camera. So we're not really looking for anything fancy. Just focusing on the clarity of the interviews.

for the shotgun, I use a Sennheiser ME66 + battery power also with a RYOTO(? cats tail wind filer and hand holder all in a nice case)
• xlr in to HVX-200 with or without the phantom power

works great.

Absolutely do NOT use the ME66 - it is truly crap (and expensive crap at that).

Go with a Senn. 416 - it is a truly a workhorse and is still pretty much the industry standard.

As far as wind protection goes, if you're shooting outdoors, even a whisper of a breeze will mess up your audio. Get a blimp - Sennheiser makes one (I use it) but it is more expensive than other options out there. You can probably order the K-Tek K-Zepp directly from them (they are pretty accommodating when it comes to shipping - they shipped Timapter one in South Africa, for example).

You will need a boom - Sennheiser (AFAIK) does not make one, but again, K-Tek makes great booms.

You will also need cables, but presumably you can easily get those from suppliers there. You also need good headphones - Sennheiser does make some that are well thought of (I don't know the model numbers, since I use the Sony 7506's - do a search here and you'll find it).

Hope this helps.

Warwickt - don't mean to jump down your throat, but the group's general consensus is very much against the ME66 - it is severely overpriced for the quality of audio you get - but Sennheiser also provides high margins on it for resellers, so it is the mic that is pushed most for entry-level sound work. If you're looking for entry level, you're far better served with the Rodes or the A-T 4073a (even the A-T 897 is better than the ME66).
