Mic recommendations fro the Zoom H4n

I was looking to get a shotgun mic for around $150-$250 to use with the Zoom H4n. Can anyone recommend one that, from their own experience, works well with the H4n? I was thinking of the Rode NTG-2 but I heard that it and the H4n don't work great together.

Anything more than $250 in price is outta my budget.

The NTG- works fine with the H4N. I sold mine because it didn't do exactly what I wanted for Docs and I use my M-3 instead. I'm not recommending the M3 BTW. It is for my situation.

What I am going to tell you is that with the M3 or the NTG 2 or nearly any other mic, you need a preamp for use with the H4N.

What preamp depends on the sound requirements you have and can range from fifty bucks to five hundred.
 
I think for that price range the Audio Technica AT875R does a very respectable job. I've done several long corporate video projects with it and very satisfied.
