Mic Light...

That is probably a good idea... but that is also about the funniest thing I've seen since I first saw the figrig... I'm sure I'll get used to it after a while... but that is funny. It's just a weird connection there... the point of a ring light is the lens is at the light emission center... but I don't know of any advantage to putting a mic at the center of a light.

I'm sure it's cool... but it's also funny.

Yes it's almost like they don't understand what it really is and where it should be put and they found this cool, cheap product that didn't have a diameter big enough for the lens to be in the middle so they made it a mic ring light thinking it was close enough to still work okay.

Well you have obviously never heard of the phenomena called "sound luminousness": with this device we will now FINALLY be able to capture very evenly lit audio!

Awesome!

:)

When I saw the thread title I thought it was going to be a chinese lantern on a boom pole with some intelligent way of getting the mic in there as well.

I've considered running a boom lantern with a boom mic on it before... it would be limiting... but if you think about it that's also pretty much what you need for a walk 'n talk... I worked on one of these for a while and I've got some cool stuff to play with.

I was totally expecting to see something like the crap I've built... it's like the title would be "portable battery light" and you think you're going to see a light with the advantage of portable battery power... but it ends up being a ring of lights going around a battery that runs something else... which is what got me giggling about this one.

I'm looking at the Vidled dc light sticks and getting some ideas... wink-wink.

My previous effort meant having a PA pull cable... and this was for dramatic work... not unpredictable walk 'n talk... which meant power cable issues were planned out.

A DC LED boom light? C'mon... that's brilliant.

Yes it's not bad but no need for the chinese lantern then--that's really, in my mind anyway, for 360 degree dispersal of a higher wattage light source. Just the sticks by themselves on the end of a boom should be pretty good I would imagine.

Low Price

Low Price

Maybe someone else will come along and market one for much less? That would be great!
